21.05.2010 WildAid AUCTION – SAN FRANCISCO

I’m proud to announce that two of my images raised 2’500 US$ at the WildAid action held in San Francisco on Friday 21st of May – the official Endangered species Day. The 157 attendees enjoyed an evening of cocktails, appetizers, a lively panel discussion and reception with silent auction. More than 100 items, including more than 50 photos donated from some of the best photographer in the world, as Art Wolfe, Joel Sartore, Tui De Roy, Niall Benvie, Daniel Cox and Brian Skerry – just to name few of them – raised over 90’000$.

I really feel privileged to have been given the opportunity to be one of the judges of this year BBC WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR 2010 – considered as the OSCAR of wildlife photography… and now I KNOW WHY…

I’ve spent the last four days closed in a dark room with 5 other judges reviewing thousands and thousands of AMAZING images coming from all over the world.

KUONI VIAGGI il più grande tour operator Svizzero invita i suoi clienti ad una serata all’insegna delle bellezze delle Regioni Polari e le problematiche relative ai cambiamenti climatici.

Erano quasi trecento i partecipanti a questa serata: incalliti viaggiatori, amanti della natura incontaminata, persone sensibili alle problematiche ambientali ed amanti della fotografia.

KUONI TRAVEL the leader tour operator in Switzerland organized a conference to celebrate the beauty of the Polar Regions and rise awareness on the problems related to climate changes.

Almost three hundreds people joined the event: passionate travelers, nature lovers, environmentalists and photography lovers.

E’ sempre un piacere incontrare vecchi amici e farne di nuovi condividendo le proprie passioni. Questa sera sono stata ospite del Foto Cine Club Chiasso (www.fotoclub-chiasso.ch) per presentare i miei ultimi lavori e parlare un pochino dei problemi relativi ai cambiamenti climatici, tematica a me molto cara.

Parlare di fronte ad un piccolo ma molto interessato gruppo è sempre molto stimolante. In genere le persone sono meno intimidite a le domande si susseguono una dopo l’altra con uno scambio di idee e vedute che allarga sempre i propri orizzonti.

Grazie ad Alvaro Bosisio per l’invito e a tutti gli appassionati partecipanti.

12/13.04.2010 FESTIVAL OF LANGUAGES – LUGANO

Lugano – Switzerland

Switzerland with its four official languages (German, French, Italian and Romanch) is known worldwide for its polyglotism.

We start learning a second language at primary schools and at secondary schools we are studying French, German and English (beside our first language – in my case Italian).

In order to promote the use of a foreign language as well as open the student minds to other cultures, in the last few years a group of very active teachers in Lugano is organizing a “Festival of the languages”.

During a week the students have the opportunity to follow various activities but all in a foreign language: cooking lessons, theatre, circus and conferences on various subjects.

This year I was asked to be part of this great event with my presentation on Global warming and climate changes (in English).

Almost 400 students joined my talk and I was delighted to see how the young generations are sensitive to these problems…

THERE IS HOPE!
